News - PACE donates £9.5K to Marie Curie

PACE has donated £9,500 to support Marie Curie Cancer Care. The association, made up of professionals from the communications industry in the Midlands, is committed to backing charitable causes while providing members with support and connections within the industry.

Selena Higgins, chair of the PACE council, said: “PACE works very hard to co-ordinate opportunities for its members and their guests, both in terms of networking and skill development, and in providing great fundraising opportunities.

“Over the past two years while we’ve supported the charity, we’ve raised £9,500, and we’re proud to have been able to offer our support to Marie Curie Cancer Care. The charity does a fantastic job in providing care and respite for those whose lives are affected by the disease.

“Marie Curie nurses were guests of honour at our summer ball and they’re so appreciative of the funds we’ve been able to raise on their behalf. We hope that in addition, we’ve been able to raise awareness of the wonderful work they do,” she added.

PACE has nominated the Teenage Cancer Trust as the recipient of 2009-2010 fund raising endeavours.

“Cancer is a cause close to so many of us,” said Selena. “But we wanted to do what we could to help those patients fighting the disease while growing up. The courage shown by these young people is amazing and we want to do whatever we can to help fund care and research to assist them in their battle.”

All funds raised are divided between the nominated charity and the National Advertising Benevolent Fund (NABS).
